‘Not a prank’: Books banned from school library for bizarre reason
Texts that refer to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as “nomads” or “hunter-gatherers” have been tossed out from a school library in Melbourne.
36 books have been removed from the shelves of Northcote High School with a further 12 being placed in a new “restricted” category.
According to The Age newspaper: “Northcote has encouraged other schools to follow its lead”.
“Books should not be banned, it is mediaeval, will the Bible be banned next?” Ben said.
