‘Not simply about money’: Mark Morey from Unions NSW talks government negotiations
Unions NSW spent a lot of money to elect Chris Minns as NSW Premier, now it’s their time to negotiate pay rises for public servants.
However, Secretary of Unions NSW, Mark Morey, is not just asking for better pay for police, teachers, nurses and other public servants.
“It’s not simply about money, but also having job security and flexibility in the workplace,” Mr Morey told Chris O’Keefe.
“We want to negotiate things out in a pragmatic way, to ensure we have good jobs and can hand those on to the next generation.”
Mr Morey is asking that public servants at least receive the fair wages earned by workers in other states of Australia.
“It’s not going to happen overnight, but we have to start addressing these problems,” he said.
