The 2022 NRL season is returning and ahead of the campaign, there will be a new rule change.

Now instead of a set-restart, a penalty will be awarded if a team commits a ruck infringement or has a player or players inside the 10 metres while “inside the 40-metre zone of the team in possession”.

The Australian Rugby League Commission has confirmed the rule change today.

Head of Football at the NRL Graham Annesley has told Mark Levy, “it’s gone down pretty well”.

“We needed to do something about this.”

“Look we certainly don’t want to provide incentives for clubs to break the rules.

“Hopefully this rule will adjust that.”
