NRL Western Australia boss details ‘irresistible’ bid for 18th NRL licence

NRL Western Australia CEO John Sackson believes that Perth will be able to put forward a “very compelling” case for an 18th NRL licence.

On Saturday, the Dolphins take on the Knights before the Rabbitohs do battle with the Sharks at Optus Stadium in Perth with more than 45,000 fans set to attend.

It comes as the NRL is weighing up where its 18th team will reside in the coming years and Sackson believes Perth has a strong case.

“There is a consortium of very successful businessman in Perth who are also passionate rugby league people that are working behind the scenes and doing lots of ground work,” Sackson said.

“I believe Western Australia can present a very very compelling if not irresistible case in it’s own right without partnering up with a club on the east coast in a joint venture situation.”
