NSW Ambulance boss warns surging demand ‘isn’t going away’
NSW Ambulance Commissioner is optimistic the budget will include additional help to meet the surging demand.
Ambulances are receiving at least 500 more triple zero calls daily, compared with figures prior to the pandemic.
Dr Dominic Morgan told Ben Fordham the situation is “very challenging”.
“There’s been a step change. We used to do 3,000 cases a day before COVID – now we’re at 3,500.”
“This isn’t going away. This isn’t just a result of the pandemic.”
