NSW floods: Death toll rises as towns inundated with floodwater
Two elderly women and two men have died as a result of devastating floods on the north coast of NSW.
The women were found in separate homes yesterday.
The man’s body was found in Lismore CBD.
Jim Wilson revealed the fourth death due to the floods in Lismore.
Volunteers from the SES found the body of a man believed to be in his 70s.

Mayor of Lismore Steve Krieg has told Jim Wilson the community is exhausted, tired and cranky.
After the fourth confirmed death, “We are certainly trying to recover any other bodies were trying to find”.
Fears the number of deaths will rise Mr Kreig said, “I’m really devastated for our town”.
“It’s hard to believe we’re living in a country like Australia and we’re saying we are running out of food and water.”

Residents of the northern town of Ballina have been forced to evacuate in the face of “life-threatening” floods.
NSW SES Commissioner Carlene York told Ray Hadley “there may be more fatalities”.
“We’re going house by house to make sure people are safe.”

Heavy rain, thunderstorms and destructive winds are forecast to hit Sydney as the east coast low moves along the coast.
SES Deputy Commissioner Daniel Austin told Jim Wilson the situation is changing by the minute.
“It’s going be quite some time till we see the true scale of this travesty.
“Water continues to be moving and continues to pose a risk.”

Minister for Women, Regional Health, and Mental Health Bronnie Taylor told Ray Hadley the concern for evacuation in Ballina is growing.
Patients have been evacuated and moved to communal evacuation centres.
“We’re providing services that need to be provided.
“Really difficult stuff this.”

Ballina Mayor Sharon Cadwallader told Deborah Knight the flooding situation is definitely becoming impactful.
“The businesses are filling up with water.
“I hope I don’t see it again.”
Ms Cadwallader said the shock has not set in yet for most residents, “They’ve left without precious things”.
