The old polluted Parramatta river will now become a new swimming spot for residents.

The NSW government has announced its investment of $10m to make the river safe to swim in.

Anthony Roberts is the NSW Planning Minister and spoke to Chris O’Keefe about why they are doing this.

During the pandemic, Robert said he learnt that people loved parks. This made him realise more recreational parks and swimming spots were needed in NSW.

“Not just in Sydney or the Parramatta river, but also for dams and rivers in Regional NSW, ” Robert said.

“This is an opportunity to enable participation in people to have a different experience”.
