NSW Labor leader goes on the warpath against ‘rampant revenue raising’
$26.2 million in speeding tickets have been issued to NSW drivers this year from secret cameras, with the majority for low-range offences.
NSW Labor leader Chris Minns told Jim Wilson not only have fines increased tenfold, but the state government has proposed tripling the number of hours cameras are active.
“They’ve all been privatised to private companies who run them, not the NSW government, and I think it’s rampant revenue-raising off the back pockets of working families.
“This isn’t a small increase because driver behaviour is changing, this is a massive revenue shock on the motorists of NSW.”
