NSW Labor seeks to hit crime gang bosses where it hurts
NSW Labor will table a private member’s bill targeting the unexplained wealth of organised crime bosses.
State Cabinet has been delaying laws to give NSW Police the right to seek “unexplained wealth orders” (UWO) against suspected underworld identities since last year.
Ray Hadley confronted the NSW Attorney-General yesterday over reports he was responsible for the delay.
NSW Police believe the laws could have prevented some of the killings in the gang wars.
Labor leader Chris Minns told Ray Hadley the shadow police minister Walt Secord will give notice of their own bill to crack down on gang bosses.
“We need to hit them where it hurts and that’s their back pocket.”
