NSW Planning Minister addresses rising infrastructure costs
The NSW Planning Minister, Paul Scully, has addressed the Productivity Commission Report and the increasing costs of providing infrastructure.
The report highlighted the high costs associated with building from scratch, rather than using or expanding existing infrastructure.
Scully emphasised the importance of creating new homes in “well-located areas, close to public transport, close to jobs, close to opportunities”.
“We can’t go on forever expecting teachers, health workers, firefighters, police cleaners, [and] hospitality workers to travel two and three hours across the city each day to get to work”, he explained.
