‘Nutjob’ activists go ‘one step too far’, prompting police to form Strike Force
NSW Police have formed ‘Strike Force Tuohy’ to crack down on anti-coal activists disrupting Hunter Valley rail lines through dangerous and illegal protests.
17 Blockade Australia protesters have been arrested so far for trespassing and rail disruption offences, and Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna told Jim Wilson police are working to put an end to the group’s activity.
“It takes nothing to give themselves a new name … so far most of them have come, in fact, from various places interstate.”
Jim tore into the “deadset nutjobs”, calling on the police to “throw the book at” the illegal protesters.
“I can assure, we share the same sentiment Jim,” the Assistant Commissioner responded.
“These individuals are now going one step too far, and we’ve had enough.”
