Outgoing Labor MP calls out parliament’s bullying culture
A retiring MP says he’s leaving Parliament because the Labor Party’s treatment of him has left him in a bad mental state.
Guy Zangari, the member for Fairfield, is quitting after 12 years and will not contest the upcoming state election.
Mr Zangari told Joe Hilebrand he wanted to be honest and open when giving his farewell speech to parliament.
“I couldn’t just go out and say everything was rosy and great, that would be misleading the house.
“This was my opportunity to set the record straight. I hope one day the place can be cleaned up.”
