Calls for a travel bubble between NSW-Victoria when states hit critical milestone

Jim Wilson has called for a travel bubble between NSW and Victoria when both states reach the 70 per cent double dose target.

“It’s time for our two most populous states, NSW and Victoria, to institute a fully vaccinated travel bubble once we are both at 70 per cent of the eligible population double jabbed,” the 2GB Drive host said.

He said there had been industries that were “absolutely smashed” during the pandemic, tourism and hospitality in particular.

“Once we are at 70 per cent vaccination, it is time for the country’s two most powerful Premiers, Gladys Berejiklian and Daniel Andrews to show true leadership and set us on the path to freedom.”

He said it would help kick-start the domestic travel and tourism industries.

Flight Centre boss Graham Turner said both states already had the virus in the community.

“I think there has been repeated statements, not totally clear I accept, that this was the intention generally of the National Cabinet, the federal government and the states,” he told Jim.

“I think people would be right to be very disappointed if this didn’t happen.”
