Paul Fletcher demanding answers over potential Attorney-General breach
Paul Fletcher is seeking answers over concerns that Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus is potentially in breach of the Prime Minister’s Ministerial Code of Conduct.
Mr Dreyfus apparently has investments in a business that funds class action lawsuits.
The investments are with a managed fund called ‘Omni Bridgeway’. The fund campaigned heavily against the Morrison government’s proposal for legal reform that cracked down on litigation funders.
Manager of Opposition Business Paul Fletcher claims the matter could be a conflict of interest.
Mr Fletcher told Ray Hadley the Code of Conduct has strict prohibitions on owning shares and limitations on whether you can own managed funds that own shares in companies that are seen as a conflict of interest.
“So far we have been getting a stonewalling answer [from the government] two days in a row,” he said.
Paul Fletcher added he doesn’t think the Attorney-General has informed Anthony Albanese of his actions.
“We are reminding the Prime Minister and the Attorney-General of the specific wording of the code.”
