Panthers centre Stephen Crichton and Broncos Prop Payne Haas have weighed in on what it means to be selected for the NSW Blues ahead of State of Origin Game 1.

Stephen Crichton told Mark Levy he was caught off-guard about his bench role when NSW Blues Coach Brad Fittler called him.

The centre also added being a part of the “biggest team on the biggest stage” is an amazing feeling

“I’m really excited for the opportunity and don’t want to let the boys down,” he said.

Brisbane Broncos star Payne Hass said Origin is a lot more “brutal” but it won’t deter the squad.

“We got picked for a reason.”
