Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has confirmed Australian foreign fighters will have to face justice back home.

Turkey has already returned 30-year-old Agim Ajazi to Australia, where he will face charges for allegedly being a member of an Islamic terrorist group and engaging in hostile activity in a foreign country.

Mr Dutton tells Ray Hadley that Ajazi is facing “very serious allegations”.

“Some of the charges carry penalties of up to 25 years.

“We’ll work with our international counterparts. Obviously with Turkey, we have an important relationship.

“In some cases, we’ll be compelled to take people back.”
