Author Peter FitzSimons has released a new book on Australia’s deadliest Vietnam War battle.

The Battle of Long Tan, on August 18, 1966, was a deadly battle for Australian forces in Vietnam.

The date is now observed annually as Long Tan Day and as Vietnam Veterans’ Remembrance Day, the national day of commemoration of the Vietnam War.

Peter FitzSimons joined Joe Hildebrand to talk about his research into the battle and how important it was in Australia’s history.
