Petrol prices to skyrocket: Fuel tax cut comes to an end tonight
The temporary cut to the fuel excise will come to an end at midnight.
The fuel excise cut was announced in March, halving the 44 cents a litre tax.
Experts suggest the 22-cent rise won’t be felt at the bowser for a few more days while petrol stations exhaust their current supplies.
The government has rejected calls for an extension to the tax cut.
“Next week, when you drive past the servo and see the new eye-watering prices, you know who to blame,” Chris Smith said.
