‘Pigs might fly’: Ray Hadley destroys weak speed camera excuse
Ray Hadley has repudiated a statement providing poor excuses for mobile speed cameras obscuring themselves from the view of motorists.
Tara McCarthy from Transport NSW’s statement explains that speed camera vehicles and signs have been obscured by other motorists deliberately parking in front of them.
Ray took the statement to task, sighting listeners who provided examples and photos of cameras parked behind fixed signs, trees and trucks and horse floats that had been stationary for days.
“This doesn’t pass muster … in every case I’ve documented here … the [camera] was parked there well and truly after the other vehicle and on three occasions parked behind a sign,” Ray said.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway has made a statement to 2GB explaining: “Vendors have been given very clear instruction to ensure visibility of rooftop warning signage on mobile speed camera vehicles. I am disappointed to see these instructions continually being ignored.”
The Minister’s office will be investigating the matter.
