Plan underway to save music in NSW schools
The return of school music programs is being applauded but there’s a warning children could turn away from the subject.
Playing the flute or saxophone in school has been previously deemed unsafe under public health orders.
RIVMEO facilitator Stephen O’Doherty told Deborah Knight they had concerns COVID could be an existential threat to music in schools.
“That is unfortunately coming true.
“We have just a small amount of time to stimulate the restart of music programs in schools in order to revive music as a subject.”
