Efforts are underway to control ballooning numbers of mice in regional New South Wales and help stave off a looming plague.

The rodents are being spotted from Queensland down to the Victorian border, and west to Adelaide.

Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with New South Wales Farmers president Xavier Martin to hear about the growing numbers and the preventative measure that can be put in place.
