Older Australians with symptoms of tiredness or shortness of breath could be suffering from a heart condition called Mitral Valve Regurgitation, the second most common heart valve condition.
In days gone by, open heart surgery was required to repair the faulty valve. However, modern techniques and breakthroughs in medical technology has seen less invasive alternatives become available.
The MitraClip is a new device which offers hope to patients who might not be candidates for open heart surgery. San Interventional Cardiologist Dr Jason Sharp performs the surgery and joins John Stanley.
