Adam Creighton, Washington correspondent with The Australian, about his recent article detailing that a leading US scientist expects academics minimising Covid-19 lab leak theory, despite their private doubts, will face fraud charges, while praising Aussie journalist Sharri Markson for her dogged investigation of the so-called “lab leak theory”.

Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University, believes evidence points to Wuhan lab origin and says the debate is shifting to congressional and judicial arenas. 

Professor Ebright’s comments came days after Republican Senator Rand Paul, who has led congressional efforts to uncover the true origin, referred Dr Anthony Fauci, a former top US health bureaucrat, to the Department of Justice for prosecution over allegations he lied to Congress over the extent of US funding that had been directed to the Wuhan lab.

Also discussed, amidst the summer heat some Americans have relied on air conditioning, while others, like Hillary Clinton and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, made questionable statements about the weather. Clinton blamed “MAGA Republicans” for the heatwave, while Guterres declared the “era of global boiling.” Both statements were seen as foolish.
