Advocate shares reasons why going cashless will make Aussies worse off

Clinton Maynard

Mike speaks with Jason Bryce, founder of Cash Welcome, who fully supports ‘Draw Out Some Cash Day,’ a grassroots effort to assert the importance of physical cash in Australia.

The initiative aims to counter the trend towards digital payments by reminding people of the benefits of cash, such as budgeting control, reliability, privacy, and reduced fees.

Bryce highlights concerns about the overreliance on electronic payments, citing issues like data privacy, susceptibility to hacks, and unexpected fees.

Despite the decline in cash transactions, he emphasises the continued necessity of physical currency for many individuals and calls on banks to ensure its availability as a reliable backup option.
