Alice Springs faces a State of Emergency

Bill Woods

As crime continues to spiral out of control in Alice Springs the Police have been forced to take extreme and extraordinary measures, highlighting the serious state of affairs in the town.

Bill Woods is joined by Robyn Lambley MLA, Independent for the Northern Territory electorate of Araluen, who says “what we are seeing is a state of emergency in Alice Springs.”

“It is time the NT Labor Government implement a night and day curfew immediately.”

“The Chief Minister, Natasha Fyles’ refusal to consider implementing a curfew is not based on fact.  Her personal prejudice and ignorance should not be at the cost of securing the safety and well-being of the Alice Springs community.”

“Alice Springs has reached a very low point where the criminals have taken over the town and the good people are being told to stay away. This is completely outrageous. The Government has a humanitarian obligation to restore law and order in Alice Springs immediately. A curfew for young people must be trialled.”
