American book ban now includes dictionaries

Mike is joined by Australian children’s author & screenwriter Michelle Worthington, who expresses concern about the banning of her book ‘Noah Chases the Wind’ in U.S. classrooms, fearing broader implications for Australian authors.

During the 2023 summer break in America, 1600 books were removed from a Florida school, including dictionaries and encyclopedias for the first time.

The banned titles range from children’s books like ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not’ to biographies of figures like Thurgood Marshall and Anne Frank. This move raises questions about the extent of book censorship during school holidays.
