Aussie teen finds major ally in the fight for Australia’s nuclear power

Clinton Maynard

Luke is joined by Will Shackel, 17 year-old founder of Nuclear for Australia currently in Dubai for the COP28 summit, about one of Australia’s major allies joining the fight for Australia’s nuclear power.

French President Emanuel Macron had the following message for the Australian Government when met by Will in Dubai. The French President has decisively called on the Australian Government and Australian leaders to ‘lift the ban’ on nuclear energy declaring that ‘nuclear energy is necessary to succeed in carbon neutrality by 2050’.

Last week Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen described nuclear in Australia as a ‘a fantasy wrapped in a delusion’.  This statement puts the French President at odds with the Australian Government’s energy policy and refusal to lift the ban on nuclear energy.

France has one of the world’s leading nuclear industries, proven to be safe and effective at delivering affordable carbon-neutral power.

This is a major win, says Will – don’t let this opportunity go amiss.
