Dating coach warns the ‘6-6-6 rule’ sets unrealistic standards
The recently popularised ‘6-6-6 rule’, which suggests women seek out men who are at least six feet tall, have six-pack abs, and earn over six figures, is causing more harm than good in the dating world.
Mike is joined by Karina Chapman, Dating & Relationship Coach & Founder of Aligned Communications, who reveals while the idea might seem like an easy way to narrow down potential partners, warns it may set unrealistic expectations.
While Karina supports having non-negotiable ‘dating deal-breakers’, she emphasises that focusing on shared values and future goals is far more important than superficial traits and “If you compromise on those types of deal-breakers, you may end up in a relationship filled with resentment and conflict”, she says.
“Moreover, the majority of Australian men don’t meet these criteria.
Men who feel judged by unrealistic standards can experience rejection and frustration. Imagine the outcry if women faced a similar dating rule!
