Details of a new small more affordable Tesla teased
Tesla has revealed details of possible specifications it plans to include in its
range of smaller more affordable electric models in the not-too-distant future. In a
recent report to investors the American electric car specialist details its vision for
its next generation vehicle architecture, smaller to the current Model 3 mid-size
sedan, around the size of the Toyota Corolla and VW Golf, and half the cost to
produce thanks to new production processes. The report outlines its future
global vehicle fleet, listing a compact model with a 53kWh battery using Lithium-
ion phosphate chemistry. The assumption is the new small Tesla will be more
energy efficient, due to its smaller dimensions and lighter body and with
improvements to the electric motor its 53kWh battery may be capable of around
500km’s range on a single charge. I’m David Berthon
