Dr Abul Rizvi – Australia’s boom in international students & blowout in net migration

Luke is joined by Dr Abul Rizvi, Former deputy secretary of the Department of Immigration & author of “Population Shock”, to discuss the current boom in international students in Australia and the potential risks it poses.  Dr Rizvi cites previous instances of similar booms that ended abruptly and in tears.

Also discuss is Australia’s net migration in which is at unprecedented levels, approaching 400,000 for the 12 months to end March 2023.

Dr Rizvi says the surge in net migration is likely to continue for some time, but as the labour market weakens and immigration policies are tightened, net migration is expected to gradually decline.
