Feminists vs the Tradwives trend

Mike Jeffreys

Mike is joined by Amanda Lambros, relationship counsellor and best-selling author, to discuss the “tradwife” trend – which derives from the phrase traditional housewife.

Unlike the women of past generations, today’s “tradwives” choose to embrace certain romanticised aspects of traditional domestic life, but without the harsh realities of necessity, scarcity, or oppression.

These women often have the advantage of generational wealth, successful careers as social media influencers, and impressive skills in tech, design, content production, and cooking.

They also project an image akin to bikini models, highlighting their many options—options that their grandmothers never had.

The tradwife movement is seen as a protest against hustle culture and the modern expectation that women should quickly return to work after childbirth to maintain productivity.

These women reject fast food, commercialised care, mass-produced goods, and the rushed pace of contemporary life.
