Fighting to keep the Prosecco name
There are fears more wine varieties could be on the chopping block if a European Union bid to stop local producers using the name ‘Prosecco’ is successful.
It’s the second time in a decade the EU has pushed to prevent Australian companies from putting the label on sparkling wine varieties.
Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with Australian Grape and Wine chief executive Lee McLean who’s encouraging producers to submit their view to government through a public objections process and help inform negotiations between both countries.
