Home care extension welcomed by industry
Today Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that the Royal Commission into aged care homes will be extended by a further 3 months, with the final report due to be released on the 26th of February. In this announcement Morrison also unveiled a $326m package for the aged-care sector which will allow 6,100 older Australians to live at home for as long as possible.
The peak body for non-profit aged care providers Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) has welcomed this announcement. CEO Patrica Sparrow joins Luke Grant to discuss the new package and just how important the Royal Commission extension is.
