‘It was a real rollercoaster’: Ben Fordham speaks on his ‘powerful’ interview with Pauline Hanson

Luke Grant

Pauline Hanson emotionally broke down on The Bolt Report last night, amid speculation that Brian Burston’s position on company tax cuts has the party on the precipice of collapse.

2GB’s Ben Fordham conducted the interview and spoke with Luke Grant on how it all unfolded.

“It just so happened that Pauline was locked in tonight to be on the show. In normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have gone on.  She has this problem. One of her own Senators is on the front page of The Australian saying he’s at odds with her, over her refusal to support the Government’s company tax cuts.”

Despite the trying circumstances, Hanson honoured her commitment.

“It then ended up going on a real rollercoaster,” Ben explains.

“She went on with what I thought was a very powerful, passionate argument about what she stands for. She is not going to have any of those achievements downgraded or diminished in any way, whether it’s by Brian Burston or anyone else.”

The controversy didn’t end there.  Hanson then revealed she had it on good advice that Burston had potentially approached the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, hoping to defect.

“Brian Burston then comes on and says it isn’t true. He hadn’t approached anyone, he’d never even met Robert Borsak or had discussions with him.”
