Labor ramps up nuclear scare tactics

Mike Jeffreys

Mike speaks with Robert Parker, civil engineer and founder of Nuclear for Climate Australia, following Treasurer Jim Chalmers branding the Coalition’s plan to build seven nuclear power plants as “economic insanity.”

The federal opposition has proposed building reactors at sites of current coal-fired power stations, such as the Hunter Valley, Lithgow, Latrobe Valley, Collie, and Port Augusta, with construction starting between 2035 and 2037.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is expected to reveal more details in an upcoming speech, while Chalmers resorts to scare tactics saying the plan will raise costs, delay solutions, and fail to address immediate energy needs.
