Labor’s ‘black spot’ pork barrelling

Clinton Maynard

Luke is joined by the Hon. David Coleman, Federal Member for Banks & Shadow federal Communications Minister, for an update on a story involving pork barrelling for funding to fix the mobile phone black spots revealed a few months ago.

Out of the 54 electorates that received funding to fix their mobile phone black spots, 40 were in Labor seats.  Some areas that missed out were in flood or bushfire zones.

A departmental document from January this year goes through a detailed analysis of the 54 locations that were selected by the Communications Minister Michelle Rowland to receive funding.

In the document, it lists what the issues are for each area that received funding – it looks like at least 20 areas had no listed issue.
