Lexus LC500 Coupe -seven years on still looks fresh and inspiring
Driving the Lexus LC500 Coupe today, a stunning upper luxury sports Coupe that was recently updated – although first launched in 2017 it still looks very fresh and innovative. And with just 35 sold in the first six months a very individual purchase, a car perhaps that will become a collectable classic. With 5.0-litre naturally aspirated all-alloy V8 driving through a 10-speed automatic with manual paddle shifters it not only looks the part, but the driving experience is top class – the engine sounds exciting at its upper limits and in the top available drive mode of Sport Plus provides a breathtaking driver experience. This is a sports Coupe that not only looks stunning with great high performance yet can be driven around town in a very relaxed manner. Importantly, it feels absolutely bulletproof and gained some extra active safety elements last year like lane trace assist, rear cross traffic alert and a 360-degree camera. Craftsmanship is a word linked more to a bygone era but in the case of the Lexus LC500 Coupe its very fitting, the paint quality simply outstanding and bespoke, the fit and finishes in the cabin without fault. At $204,635 this is a sports coupe that is a delight to drive and without peer. Warranty, however, could be better – a disappointment at just four- years/100,000 kms. I’m David Berthon.
