MG’s ZST – The current high flyer in the small SUV market
The Chinese-owned MG brand continues its march on the local market with its small ZS SUV our top selling small SUV, outselling its nearest rival the GWM Haval Jolion by a country mile. The MG ZS catapulted the brand onto the market here with a sharp entry price but the model to own is the four model ZST grade pitched at a more premium market, the two higher ZST grades, the Excite and the Essence gaining an impressive turbocharged 1.3-litre three-cylinder engine driving through a six-speed automatic. The value story on this duo is excellent – the Excite $31,990 drive-away, the Essence $33,990 drive-away, and currently both come with a $1,500 factory bonus. Interior room is a highlight while the equipment list on both is staggering, the top-line Essence loaded with a large Panoramic sunroof, full digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather trim, heated and power front seats, tyre pressure monitoring and 17-inch alloy wheels. This, in addition to the Excite models 360-degree camera, LED Headlights and MG’s suite of active safety technology dubbed MG Pilot. The British MG moniker also giving this small ZST SUV a lot more kudos over other Chinese produced brands. MG comes with a 7-years/unlimited kilometre warranty and roadside assistance, three-year service costs $896.
