Mid size Chery Tiggo Pro 7 SUV arrives in 3 grades from #39 990 drive away

David Berthon

The Chinese brand Chery returned earlier this year with the oddly named small
Omoda 5 SUV and has announced pricing and details of a new mid-sized SUV,
also oddly named the Tiggo 7 Pro – in three grades from $39,990 drive-away. A
five-seater so I’ve no idea what the Tiggo 7 Pro stands for, all grades powered by
a 1.6-litre turbo four with 137kW paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic,
the Urban and Elite grades front drive, the Ultimate grade all-wheel drive. With 7
years/unlimited kilometre warranty and free scheduled servicing for the first three
years or 30,000k’s for the first 500 customers the Chery Tiggo 7 is well-supported
and one of Chery’s most popular global models. But it will be interesting to see if
it needs more refinement and fine-tuning as I found with the Omoda 5.
