Clinton Maynard

Michael speaks with Michael Shoebridge, Director of the defence, strategy and national security program at ASPI (Australian Strategic Policy Institute), for his take on U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s planned trip to Taiwan.

Pelosi’s visit has triggered increased tensions between China and the United States as she becomes becoming the highest-ranking American official to visit the self-ruled island in 25 years.

Also, news of al-Qaeda has been very quiet of late, until the announcement yesterday of the U.S.A.’s kill of Ayman al-Zawahiri by a drone strike.  Zawahiri had been the leader of al-Qaeda since 2011, following the death of Osama bin Laden.
