New poll shows 63% of Aussies support January 26 as Australia Day

Clinton Maynard

Mike Jeffreys is joined by Daniel Wild, Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of Public Affairs, to discuss the details of their 2024 Australia Day Poll.

The poll, undertaken by profession data collection firm Dynata, shows a strong majority of 63% support January 26 as Australia Day, just 17% disagree. The result is slightly up on the 62% support for January 26 in our poll from last year.

Also consistent with last year’s results, the poll also found that 87% of respondents were proud to be an Australian, just 4% disagreed, and 69% agreed Australia has a history to be proud of, with 15% disagreeing.
