PM prioritises Indigenous Voice over education in remote communities

Clinton Maynard

Luke is joined by Sarah Henderson, Senator for Victoria / Shadow education minister, who accuses the Albanese government of prioritising an Indigenous Voice to Parliament over improving education outcomes for children in remote Aboriginal communities.

This followed a News Corp report that revealed Labor had scrapped plans to build two new boarding schools in remote Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The facilities were part of a $75 million funding package from the former Coalition government to build or refurbish four schools.  The current government has only been able to progress two, citing rising costs as the reason the project could not be completed in full even though our Federal Treasure Jim Chalmers, has at least $20B worth of surplus up his sleeve and closing the gap via the voice is costing us $500M in a referendum.

As well, the Senator hasn’t missed Qantas and their “Yes” planes, a story we had unconfirmed for you first yesterday.

She says, “If Qantas is backing the Albanese Government’s ‘commitment to reconciliation’ by its decision to support the “yes” campaign, doesn’t this suggest that Qantas is implicitly endorsing the disgraceful decision by the Albanese Government and Education Minister, Jason Clare, to defund two indigenous boarding schools in East Arnhem Land and the Pilbara?”
