Ray Warren reflects on his special commentary career

Continuous Call Team

The voice of Rugby League, Ray Warren joined The Continuous Call Team after he retired following 55 years of sports commentary.

The man affectionately known as Rabs called 99 State of Origin matches and 45 grand finals will retire as one of Australia’s greatest ever sports broadcasters.

He told The Continuous Call Team he’s speechless when he hears of the praise he receives from the general public.

“It chokes me up to be honest,” Warren said.

“When players say they want to be called by Ray Warren, that’s outstanding and I can’t think of a word, it’s numbing really.”

Warren also gave some advice for young kids aspiring to be a sports commentator.

“Be patient, it doesn’t come on a platter, ride the wave of disappointment but you must never give up, give all of your attention and passion to your dream,” Warren said.
