Most of us know a grandma, or Nonna, who always seems to have money tucked away somewhere.  When cash was king, the wise knew that you had to hide money from yourself and the rest of the family in a tin, under the bed, or in a secret drawer.

Out of sight, out of mind, made it easier to walk around with only a few dollars and to only buy what we needed.

But with the prevalence of credit cards, the ease of borrowing can lead to financial strain when income fluctuates.
