Restoring the presumption of innocence

Mike Jeffreys

Australia’s leading group representing mothers of falsely accused men has called for recognition of the injustice they face in our biased court system captured by believe-all-women justice.

Mothers of Sons says fear of retribution has prevented too many legal experts, journalists, media commentators, academics and impacted families from speaking out about this issue which is causing harm to many Australian men every year.

Victims of appalling injustice in our courts, including family members from some of Australia’s most famous false allegations cases, will join academics and experts for an historic one-day conference event in Sydney on August 31, 2024, entitled Restoring the Presumption of Innocence.

The conference, hosted by Australians for Science and Freedom and sponsored by Mothers of Sons, is aimed at people everywhere concerned about fair treatment under the law. The organisers specifically hope to attract the parents of young men who are particularly vulnerable to false sexual assault allegations.

Mike is joined by Bettina Arndt, men’s rights advocate, media commentator & one of the founders of ‘Mothers of Sons’, who says “The media’s unwillingness to address the other side of this cultural phenomenon must end.”

“The public mood has shifted radically since recent high-profile cases have put the spotlight on wrongful accusations, and the media and political elites simply aren’t keeping up. To prevent more suffering and injustice we need to have a much more mature and balanced public debate.”

*The Restoring the Presumption of Innocence Conference is on Saturday August 31, 2024 8.30am – 5.00pm Rushcutters Bay, Sydney.
