Skoda Kamiq 85TSI SUV – an impressive equipment list and sharp drive-away pricing makes it a winner.
Talking about Skoda’s recently launched front wheel drive Kamiq SUV, arriving in a very competitive small SUV segment but loaded with equipment. Skoda of course part of the Volkswagen Group and much is shared with the small VW T-Cross SUV. I drove the entry Kamiq 85 TSI 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo, a seven-speed dual clutch automatic, currently $29,990 drive-away, from my perspective one of the best new SUV arrivals this year given its impressive features list. Drive-ability is also a high point from the three-cylinder turbo – such a nice small SUV to drive in a body that’s roomy and very well executed in terms of fit and finish – classy with Skoda adding an impressive safety, comfort and convenience list – local ANCAP five star safety, standard 18-inch alloys, a welcome power tailgate, adaptive cruise control , rear camera with parking sensors and autonomous emergency braking.
Great interior room with rear air vents and a good array of child seat anchors. On the open road the turbo performance relaxed getting into the higher gears quickly without fuss, ride on the firm side yet able to tackle our broken edge roads without feeling unsettled. There’s so much to like with this Skoda Kamiq including a full size spare wheel – an excellent allrounder for a small family much like a high riding hatchback but so much more practical. Covered by a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
