Using an evolution of the current XV all-wheel-drive platform with a 10 per cent stiffer chassis and an upgraded CVT automatic transmission. I must admit I’ve never warmed to the current Subaru XV however the Crosstrek really looks the goods with an impressive dash and 11.6-inch touchscreen, several drive modes, automatic LED headlights and a high level of Subaru’s Eyesight and Vision Assist active safety systems. Prices ramp up to the Crosstrek Hybrid L at $38,590 and the top-line Hybrid S at $45,090, which gains leather trim, sat nav, power sunroof and 10-speaker Harmon- Kardon premium stereo.
