Urologist shares invaluable insight into treating prostate cancer

Clinton Maynard

During the Overnight program on Wednesday, listener Peter made a call stressing the significance of men being mindful of their prostate cancer status.  He recounted his personal journey of undergoing regular PSA blood tests, which showed normal levels, but a problem was detected during a physical examination by his doctor.

Because of Peter’s story, Luke spoke with Anne Savage, the CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, yesterday. Ms Savage disclosed that prostate cancer is the prevailing cancer diagnosis in Australia, with an estimated one in six males being diagnosed by the age of 85.

To delve deeper into the topic, Luke is joined Dr Peter Swindle, a urologist with a dedicated focus on prostate cancer and related conditions, who provides valuable insights into the actualities of prostate cancer and its treatment.

Dr Swindle was the first urologist in Queensland to perform a robotic prostatectomy. He has extensive radical prostatectomy experience of over 2,000 cases including robotic prostatectomy, open radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.
