Police ‘fear for their lives’ after Blockade Australia raid
Seven people will appear in court today after police have carried out a raid on a climate protest group north-west of Sydney.
Investigators say the group is responsible for blockades at Sydney’s major port and were planning extreme forms of protest.
Police attended a Colo property on Sunday morning to conduct investigations into ‘planned unauthorised protest activity’ when they were approached by a group of people.
An unmarked police vehicle rushed to the scene to help the officers, before they became surrounded by the crowd, who then allegedly damaged the car’s tyres, preventing it from leaving the scene.
NSW Police Minister Paul Toole told Ben Fordham some of the police officers “fear for their lives”.
