Premier accused of plotting new toll to slug Sydney Harbour motorists
Sydney motorists are being warned they could soon be slugged with tolls in both directions crossing the Harbour.
A line in a Transport for NSW report says tolls could be charged for north and southbound traffic on all Harbour crossings, which the Opposition claims could apply to the Harbour Bridge and Tunnel.
Currently, only southbound travel incurs a toll.
While Premier Dominic Perrottet has denied there’s a secret plan to reintroduce the toll afoot, Labor leader Chris Minns is doubtful.
“I think this is where we’re headed,” he told Jim Wilson.
“We asked the Premier straight-up in Question Time, ‘Will you rule this out?’ and he refused to do it.
“The Department of Transport has belled the cat here, and in the process levelled tens of thousands of families with a new toll on an old road.”
